Most of the songs on this soundtrack are available elsewhere, but together they make an excellent overview of the budding electronica movement, with contributions from some of the electronic world's biggest stars and some of the more adventurous performers in modern pop. Like the movie, a big-screen version of the '60s TV action series, the soundtrack maintains a consistent feel of darkness and danger. The chattering synthesizers and heart-stopping breakbeats of artists like Moby, Orbital and Underworld brush up against the more traditional but equally unsettling sounds of art-popsters like Duncan Sheik, Duran Duran (Out Of My Mind) and the grand old man of disturbing-but-catchy Brit-rock, David Bowie. Ol' Ziggy's contribution, "Dead Man Walking" (from his concurrent album, EARTHLING), is one of the strongest entries here. THE SAINT is a crossroads where new and old meet and conspire to unnerve all comers.
